I fell in love with Vancouver this summer and cannot wait to go back. Lucky for me, I am heading back in November for a book signing and demo at Barbara-Jo’s Books to Cooks in the Yaletown area of downtown. This is a fantastic bookstore that has in print as well as out-of-print hard-to-find books and they have a wonderful demonstration kitchen where a staff chef prepares recipes from books and where visiting authors, like me, get to strut their stuff. Go to www.bookstocooks.com
To check out an amazing array of travel itineraries got to www.intrav.com and www.clippercruise.com. Whether you want to see Antarctica up-close or fly from here to there, these companies will get you there in style. I am hard at work on some culinary themed itineraries for both companies, so stay tuned.

My good friend David Lebovitz has the best site so go check it out. www.davidlebovitz.com. He travels a lot and writes about his adventures and always has a great recipe to share. Buy his book, Room for Dessert and try his famous Ginger Cake. I got to see him make this in person and it is as delicious as it is easy. Perfect for the holidays or even a snack! |
For edible gold and silver powder go to www.beryls.com or call Beryl at 800-488-2749. Also try N.Y. Cake and Baking Distributors at 800-94-CAKE-9.
One of my favorite all-purpose baking and candy supply sites is Sweet Celebrations at www.sweetc.com. They have books and candy molds and cake pans and wedding cake supplies and much more. They carry chocolate too including Callebaut, Valrhona and Mercken’s Yucatan Dark chocolate which is a semisweet chocolate with a vanilla topnote that I like to use when I don't need a couverture, like for chunks in cookies and melted in brownies.
For information on Can Do Woman go to www.candowoman.com. As their resident Food and Entertaining Expert I will be featured on the site in video streams and still photos along with recipes that we are highlighting.
My book Christmas Cooking for Dummies is filled with recipes, food gifts and decorations and you might need some mail-order resources to help you during the holidays and beyond. Try www.citarella.com for specialty ingredients ranging from sun-dried tomatoes to shucked oysters. Another good bet is www.deandeluca.com for everything from pates and cheeses to fancy cocktail napkins and fine-quality chocolate.
